Final Outcome + Reflection

On the right, I've presented my final piece for out typography project. I used coffee and hairspray to make a soil-like texture for the type then weaved real leaves into the quote to create the impression of the weeds growing out of/around the words. I took photos at 4 intervals to capture the progression/increase in 'weeds' and create the impression of the 'weeds' getting out of control - conveying my intended message of the font Comic Sand being unrideable and somehow still everywhere - despite much opposition.

Overall, I was somewhat happy with this piece. I like how the weeds varied the surface texture, best shown in the side view image of the piece, however other than that, I felt this piece was quite boring.

Due to certain circumstances, I didn't develop my idea much and definitely different experiment with idea for the outcome as much as I would've liked to. If I were to do it again, I'd like to look into other ways of incorporating natural material (e.g. moss or growing cress in the shape of Comic Sans) into type and would like to go bigger in scale to create a more impactful piece.
